The City of Jamestown is responsible for collecting real property taxes for both the City of Jamestown and Chautauqua County, including delinquent real property taxes for Chautauqua County.
City of Jamestown & Chautauqua County Real Property Taxes:
City of Jamestown and Chautauqua County real property tax bills are typically mailed out at the end of December annually. These bills can be paid in full at the City Treasurer’s Office or at the Board of Public Utilities from January 1 to March 31 each year.
Payments:
Payments for taxes can be made in several ways:
- In-Person Payment: Visit the Treasurer’s Office or the Board of Public Utilities at 92 Steele Street.
- Mail: Send payments to P.O. Box 150, Jamestown, NY 14702-0150.
- Drop Boxes: Use drop boxes located at Tracy Plaza, the City Hall lobby, the Police Department entrance on East Second Street, or the Board of Public Utilities at 92 Steele Street.
To avoid penalties and interest, tax payments must be received or postmarked by the United States Postal Service on or before the due date. Postmarks from home or office postage machines are not considered sufficient. If a due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day.
Postdated checks cannot be applied to taxes due and will be returned, potentially resulting in late payment penalties.
Property owners in the City of Jamestown or Chautauqua County with delinquent real property taxes have the option to pay in installments.
For information regarding delinquent taxes, contact the City Treasurer’s Office at (716) 483-7512 or the Chautauqua County Real Property Tax Office at (716) 661-7221.
