The City Treasurer’s Office is responsible for collecting Parking Tickets (non-moving violations) issued by uniformed Jamestown Police Officers or Parking Enforcement Officers, in accordance with the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law and Chapter 290 of the Jamestown City Code. Non-moving violations include various infractions such as meters in violation, meter feeding, overtime in zone, and others listed below. Violations range from $10.00 to $180.00.
Parking tickets are due and payable upon receipt. Payment options include in-person at the Treasurer’s Office, mailed to P.O. Box 150, Jamestown, NY 14702-0150, or dropped off in designated drop boxes at Tracy Plaza, the City Hall lobby, or the Police Department entrance on East Second Street. Additionally, tickets may be paid online at Parking Ticket Payment.
Failure to pay within (10) business days of receipt doubles the fine, and failure within (20) days triples it. To contest a ticket, individuals must appear in person within 72 hours of receipt, fill out a dispute form, and request a trial. If the ticket isn’t excused, payment of the original amount is required within (10) business days of the court date.
Accumulating more than (3) unpaid tickets notifies the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, resulting in the individual being designated under the Scofflaw provisions, mandating payment before vehicle re-registration. Notifications are sent monthly to affected individuals.
Vehicles accumulating $101.00 or more in fines are subject to booting and towing. Warrants are issued to individuals accumulating $200.00 in delinquent parking tickets who fail to appear in court.
