The Jamestown City Council tonight approved George Panebianco, Esq. to be the new City Court Judge. Judge Panebianco will be replacing Judge Frederick Larson at the beginning of next year, as Judge Larson has taken senior status by hitting the mandatory retirement age.
Judge Panebianco has lived in Jamestown his entire life. He has dedicated his 32-year legal career on focusing on Jamestown’s ideals of a close-knit community and family ties and emulating those values in the way he practices law. Judge Panebianco has worked at Lewis & Lewis, P.C. for over 27 years, recently serving as President and Managing Partner of the firm. The firm will continue its presence in Jamestown after Judge Panebianco’s departure. Panebianco commented, “I am returning to the bench knowing that the local leadership of Lewis & Lewis will continue the tradition of quality representation to the Jamestown Community. Our clients continue to be in great hands.” He previously served as Jamestown City Court Judge from 2004 – 2014.
Judge Panebianco has served as Past President of the National Comedy Center, President of the Jamestown YMCA, and Chairman of the Italian American Charity Golf Tournament. He has been a member of the Jamestown, Erie County and New York State Bar Associations. He is a Member of the National Trial Lawyers Bar Association and former member of the NYS Injured Workers Bar Association.
Judge Panebianco stated, “I would like to thank Mayor Sundquist for nominating me and the entire Jamestown City Council for approving my appointment to the City Judgeship. As a lifelong Jamestown resident, it is my honor to serve the residents of Jamestown as Judge. My career has always focused on improving the quality of life in Jamestown, and I will continue to focus on serving our community.”
Mayor Eddie Sundquist said in a statement, “We had many great candidates for judge, and I am proud to have selected George as the nominee for City Court Judge. It was a long selection process. I am proud to have previously worked with George, and he has been a mentor, friend, colleague, and an invaluable asset to our local legal community for many years. I can think of no one else who best embodies the ethics needed in this position than George. I thank Judge Larson for his long service to the City, and wish Judge Panebianco the best in his new position.”
