What is the Healthy Home Production Grant?
The Healthy Homes Production (HHP) Grant is a city-wide initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) and administered by the City of Jamestown Department of Development (DOD), in collaboration with the Chautauqua County Health Department. The program’s goal is to reduce health risks linked to hazards in the home.
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible for the HHP Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Properties (both owner-occupied and rental units) must be located within the City of Jamestown.
- The property must house children under 18, adults over 62, or residents with disabilities.
- Household income must not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Chautauqua County:
- 1-Person Family: $46,800
- 2-Person Family: $53,450
- 3-Person Family: $60,150
- 4-Person Family: $66,800
- 5-8 Person Families: $72,150 – $88,200
What Services are Provided?
The HHP Program provides services designed to eliminate health and safety hazards in homes:
- Healthy Homes Assessment/Inspection: Each home enrolled in the program will undergo an inspection and interview process to identify and prioritize potential health risks.
- Home Repairs: The program focuses on addressing common home hazards to promote healthier living environments. Repairs may include:
- Pest control and management
- Installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- Plumbing system repairs
- Gutter repair or replacement
- Improvement of lighting conditions
- Radon and mold remediation
- Installation of exhaust fans
- Repairs to stairs and installation of railings
- Carpet removal and replacement
- Minor structural repairs
- Other necessary repairs to address code violations or promote the health and safety of residents.
