The City of Jamestown disc golf course at Bergman Park is now officially open. The course currently has 12 holes, with an additional 6 to make a full 18-hole course expected to open in Spring of 2023. The course utilizes many of the underused open areas of the park, as well as some of the wooden areas around Bergman Park.
A map and ability to keep track of scoring can be found at https://udisc.com/courses/bergman-park-x3mX. Tournaments and leagues will be regularly held on the course, and playing on the course is free of charge.
Jamestown Parks Manager Dan Stone said, “We are very excited to offer more recreational opportunities to residents. Having a high-quality disc golf course only enhances what we provide to residents and will draw in people from all over the region to play/”
Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist said, “Adding more options for recreation for our residents is a major priority for my administration. Disc golf is affordable fun for the whole family, and we are excited that we are able to have a course that will appeal to beginners and experienced disc golfers alike.
Local disc golf ambassador Frank Besse, who was instrumental in making the course a reality, said “It has been great to work with the City to develop this fun and dynamic amenity. This course will be a focal point for our local disc golf community.”
The City also partnered with Twin Tiers Disc Golf to apply for funding from the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation to secure funding for discs and portable baskets for the summer playground recreation program. “We are excited to be spreading disc golf throughout the region through strategic partnerships,” said Twin Tiers Disc Golf President Rich Longer.
