The time has come to plant new trees on West Third Street.
Mayor Edward Sundquist & The City of Jamestown’s Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department proudly invites everyone in the community to join us in celebrating Arbor Day 2023 by planting 36 new trees on West Third Street.
The tree planting will take place on Saturday, May 13th starting at 9:00 a.m. The staging area will be on the corner of Cook Avenue & West Third Street at the Healing Word Ministries Church.
Following a small presentation & the reading of a proclamation recognizing The City of Jamestown as a Tree City USA for the 42nd consecutive year by the Arbor Day Foundation, we will begin the “RE-TREE-ING” of West Third Street.
Mayor Sundquist & The Parks Department strongly encourage all residents of The City of Jamestown & our surrounding communities to bring your shovels to dig in & help us to beautify this iconic entranceway into the City.
We will be planting 4 different varieties of trees next Saturday, May 13th at 9:00 a.m. They will be a combination of ‘Columnar’ Sargent Cherry trees, ‘Columnar’ Oaks, ‘Frontier’ American Elms & ‘Sun Valley’ Red Maple trees.
We are extremely excited to be able to have this event open to everyone and anyone that wants to be involved. The Parks Department asks that if you do have shovels of your own, please bring them with you to participate in the planting.
